Features

The 28th Annual National TCF Conference By Susan Van Vleck
Yes, this forum is a safe place to remember our children.  Our stories may be different, but on this special weekend there is an instant connection of feeling as if we know others even though we are meeting for the first time.  It is okay to say our children's name out loud and no one will flinch.  It is okay to cry, and it is even okay to laugh.

Making a Difference: "BAD CROSSINGS KILL GOOD DRIVERS" (R)
Dennis and Vicky Moore couldn't understand how such a tragedy could occur.  Local media portrayed the accident as the result of "driver trying to beat the train" or because they were teenagers, "they must've been on drugs or drinking," but the Moores knew they had to find the truth.

The Second Time Around By Richard Mirabile
"...I knew that being newly bereaved the second time was the last place that I ever thought that I would be.  I also knew that, as bad as I felt, it would not be like that forever.    I had traveled this road before.  I knew that I was not alone, had acquired new tools, and had a very large family of TCF-ers I could lean on..."

The Worldwide Candle Lighting By Wayne Loder
This is truly a time when all bereaved parents and family members can join together, no matter where they may be, to tell the world a special child lived and will always be remembered.

The Highest Height By Susan L. Lipson
It was time to let go - their time and mine.  I need no more string, I'm free.   But their love steadies me on my journey, like the kite tail, guiding, but not holding me.  They know that now.  I can see it in their souls, glowing from their eyes.

TCF International Gathering By Cathy Seehuetter
I will always remember the wonderful people I met from all over the globe.   Though we were from many different countries and cultures, we spoke the universal language of grief, when then translated into compassion, love and understanding.

Dreams: A Blessing in Disguise By Carla Blowey
As I recorded my dreams to preserve these "new" memories of Kevin, a pattern emerged of other dreams that mirrored the pain and reality of our separation.  Each night my fears, desires, and memories united on my dream screen, illustrating the persistent themes of guilt, loss, and abandonment.

A First-Timer's Perspective By Libby Mirabile
As the weekend progressed, however, I came to see that while it is indeed overwhelming, the very essence of this beautiful support system is found in its awe-inspiring numbers.

Chapter News
A Walk to Remember By Georgia Lehman
The Compassionate Friends may be an organization nobody wants to join, but on this day they came to honor.  It was a day where spirits were high.  I know my daughter was spirtiually with us.  I know she was proud of her family.
